About Daisy… Daisy's Children's Boutique & Toy Store is owned by Daisy Mitchell, a 34 year old transplant from Westchester, New York and former elementary school teacher, who earned a Teaching Certification in Nursery to Sixth Grade from Pace University in 1999. She also earned a Masters in Professional Studies of TESOL- Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages from Manhattanville College in 2005. Daisy got her inspiration to open a child friendly children's clothing and toy store from her four year old toddler, who was delayed in her speech. · What makes Daisy's Children's Boutique & Toy Store different from BIG BOX retailers? Many of the toys that I sell are crafted from environmentally friendly and organic materials. The toys do not have flashy lights, nor require batteries. I have a vast selection of open-ended toys that strengthen problem solving and creative thinking skills at a very young age. A child's progress is measurable as he/she discovers new ways to use and experiment with the same toy over time. Unlike a franchise, I personally test a new toy with my toddler, I have read every Barefoot Book, and played with every toy in the shop. I also designed a play room full of toy samples, where parents and I enjoy watching children interact with the toys. · How is your early childhood developmental program different from other programs? Our Early Childhood Enrichment Thematic Units were designed to be adaptable for a family who either has one child or children that range in ages and abilities. Caregiver of infants and/or toddlers spend the first 20 minutes engaged in either an language arts, music, Spanish, science, art, drama or kinesthetic activities revolved around award winning children’s picture books. After each mini-lesson, children have OPEN PLAY, where they are encouraged to explore environmentally friendly open-ended educational toys sold exclusively at Daisy's Children's Boutique & Toy Store. · What is the KIDS’ WORKSHOP? The Kid's Workshop is an English-style cottage in the back of the toy shop surrounded by trees, and offers the most serene and nurturing environment for caregivers and friends to gather for OPEN PLAY or to celebrate birthday parties hosted by Rockin Kid Parties. Our theme parties are designed for eight to sixteen children per party between the ages of 3 to 13. These parties consist of dressing-up, crafts, games, and dancing. Karaoke, science experiments, and nail & hair spas are also included in some parties based on ages and theme. The birthday child receives a special gift from Rockin Kid Parties at the end of the party, and each attending child receives a FREE DVD movie of the party. |
